The Word of God is alive! It is a two edged sword against the enemy. Pray scripture over yourself and others for victories. Scripture is our weapon given to us by God. It's absolutely important to know what's in it.
When my husband and I were having marriage problems I developed a horrible habit of saying whatever I wanted using a very ugly tone. The Lord healed my husband and me and our marriage.
Part of that healing included my mouth. I had to retrain myself. I looked up every scripture on the mouth. I prayed them over myself.
At first I spoke out of my bad habit. I would apologize and correct myself. Then I would only think the not-niceness before I spoke kindly. It wasn't long before I overcame and was able to think and speak kindly again out of a new, good habit. By the power of Christ and using scripture I had victory over my mouth.
"Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips." (Psalms 141:3)
Teach your kids to use scripture too. Our son, Corban was afraid of the dark when he was little. I told him how I was afraid when I was young, and how I overcame it with scripture. I gave him a small verse so he could remember.
"Perfect love casts out fear." (1John 4:18b)
I told him to pray the scripture over himself when he was afraid. I told him to imagine his pillow as Jesus' lap and that Jesus was holding him and stroking his hair and kissing his forehead.
I wanted him to learn how to have victory on his own, to lean on The Lord and not just me. He did it! He hasn't come to me afraid of the dark in a long time.
These are just two small but important victories. With each victory, we become bolder, freer, and scarier to the enemy. Use your sword. Be diligent. Be courageous. Be victorious!!!
