Dani's room was a delight to decorate! Children's rooms give a lot of freedom for color, whimsy, and pattern. I picked a floral rug with pink, blue, green, yellow, and brown. From there I just pulled colors from the rug into the accessories and paint for her room. I also picked things that she could grow with, where they weren't so juvenile that she could use them for many years. I'm practical like that and I really get the miles out of what I purchase for my home whenever I keep that in mind.
Keep with the same color scheme throughout and you can mix patterns easily. Bold patterns alongside small patterns make a great combination. Also prints partnered with patterns is a great combo as well. For example, a stripe with a floral or a polka dot with a paisley and so on. Have fun and mix it up! Lacey When beginning a new decor project for a room in your house, I would advise not just starting with the paint colors. The best way to begin, I believe, is to find something that you are crazy for and go from there. Inspiration can come from anywhere! I fell in love with this pillow from Anthropologie, which is what inspired my master bedroom. My love for this pillow, combined with the style and mood of a resort I adore in Kiawah Island, is what got me started. Then came the paint colors and bedding and curtains and all the fun personal touches. Try not to settle for stuff that you only kind of like. You’ll be the one staring at it all day and night so you should LOVE it! I get great deals at Hobby Lobby, Tuesday Morning, Kirklands, World Market, and Target, of course. Happy decorating! Lacey |
