God Almighty made us to be man and woman, boy and girl. Even if you don't believe in our Heavenly Creator, how can you deny the obvious differences in our anatomy? It's basic science.
Whatever happened to being proud of your gender? I'm proud to be a woman! Equally, I'm proud that John, my husband, is a man! God made men and women in special ways that are unique to their genders. Men and women think differently, approach problems differently, and relate with their emotions differently. We were made by a Creator who designed us for teamwork. Men and women make an amazing duo partly because of what makes us similar, but especially because of what makes us different. It is so extremely devaluing to each gender to say that one doesn't exist where it obviously does.
Having interests in both "girl" and "boy" things is healthy and exactly how God created us! My beautiful little girls love to play barbies and dolls, but they also enjoy cars and toy tool sets. My two year old loves cars and trains more than dolls right now, but that doesn't mean she was meant to be a boy. My five year old plays rescue games with guns and swords, but she also loves to dress up and dance. They have great imaginations and have fun with any toy they receive. They are still girls! No denying, no hiding behind what's politically correct.
It bothers me when people say there should be an "undecided" orientation. If I had boys I know I would feel the same way about them as I do my girls, because both are uniquely special. Denying someone's gender is telling God that he made a mistake. It will only prevent you from fulfilling the unique calling God designed for you.
Psalm 139:13-14
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Jeremiah 29:11
" 'For I know he plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.' "
My husband and I are raising our girls to become strong women who are proud of how God made them. Don't deny the obvious. Be proud of how God made you and be proud of how he made your kids. Every little thing that makes them tick is unique to them, and to tell them otherwise will foster insecurity and a lack of identity. My girls are women, hear them roar!
