However, after having kids and entering my thirties, I have found a new motivation: Health! It’s not about the size that I am; that was never a very good motivator for me, oddly enough. For me, it is about living a long, healthy life with my husband and kids! I want to play with them and be involved with my husband’s activities. This is the first time in my life that I have enjoyed exercising and eating more healthily. I walk almost every day, and on cold days when I can’t walk I dance with my four year old. I try to get up and move and do something.
Always be proud of where you are. Don’t get so focused on the size you want to be that you lose sight of how to become (or remain) healthy. Weight loss will inevitably come when you’re eating healthy and exercising, but it needs to be for the right reasons. I’ve found that desiring to be healthy is the only true motivator because it is based on thinking of others and the time you could be spending with them rather than being fully focused inward and thinking only of how you look. Thinking only of yourself eventually makes anyone unhappy and dissatisfied. Think instead of how much it will bless your kids to go for a bike ride, or how it will bless your husband to go with him on a hike. Get up and move!
Well, now that I have already exercised today, I’m going to eat some chocolate and watch TV.
Proverbs13:4
A sluggard’s appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.
