"Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways." Isaiah 64:4-5a
History has shown us that, since the beginning of time, things have not always been great on the earth. There is always something horrific or tragic happening in the world. I don't know about you, but reading the news and seeing what people are doing around the world makes me sick to my stomach, especially since I have kids growing up in a culture where poor decisions, bad behavior, and messy politics are everywhere.
Then I read the Word, like this verse from Isaiah, and I remember to have hope! God "acts on the behalf of those who wait for him." I don't live in a world without hope. I live in a world where "no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen" any God besides Him. This verse made me feel His mighty arms around me, strengthening my weakness! Then I read Psalm 75:3:
"When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who holds its pillars firm."
When our world is shattering around us, He alone is holding us in place and protecting us! I mean wow! When you decide to trust these words and keep them at the forefront of your mind, then you can begin to really believe in and feel the security of the Lord in your life and His control over it. Hope is restored through His word.
"In God, whose word I praise - in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?"
Psalm 56:4
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
I get excited picturing the "God of ancient times" holding me up with "His righteous right hand". Chills, right? When I meditate on that truth, instead of whatever the news is pushing, I grow confident and fearless.
Trust in God! He alone is our almighty Protector and Provider!
