I woke up so grumpy and tired the other day. I was so bored of being in the house. My insides were screaming for an escape, but sometimes, with kids, you can't just leave the house. You have to have a plan. I had no plan and all of our friends were busy or sick. This did not help with my mood. I began to become impatient and irritable with the girls.
Later that day, we finally made it out of the house. As we were driving to who knows where, I looked at my girls through the rear view mirror and my sweet four year old, Dani, looked concerned and a little sad. She's usually singing and talking in the car so her silence spoke volumes. I began wrestling with my mood and apologizing to the Lord for my extremely self-focused morning.
I told Dani I was sorry for being grumpy. I told her that even adults have to start the day over sometimes and change their attitude into a happy heart (which is something my husband and I have been helping her learn). I explained that daddy and I teach her how to change her heart so that when she is an adult she will be able to correct her attitude all by herself. Her spirit immediately lifted!
I felt so bad that my grumpy mood had begun to ruin her day, too. It's amazing what one person's bad attitude can do. It can be contagious. But, so can correction! When I apologized I showed my daughter how to be humble, repentant, and have a changed heart. The rest of our day was fun and enjoyable. I was still tired, but I found a way to focus on my blessings and it turned the day around for everyone.

Psalm 25:9
He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way.
